After Woodrow, I took a little trip out west like so many
other graduating seniors. When I came back, I went to work
for an industrial graphic arts firm that eventually became
known as Flexo-Tech, Inc. I've
been there for close to 25 years. I work with light sensitive
photo polymer resins for the Corrugated Box Industry.
I was married to Martha Giron, WW class of '77, and we had
a son Michael Anthony who is now
about 24 years old and himself a Wildcat, Class of '95. Martha
and I divorced but still see each other
frequently.
I still live in the White Rock/Lakewood area and see fellow
classmates as well as other wildcats from the
years before and after us from time to time.
Since the mid 80's, I have been working with a Boy Scout troop
in the Lakewood area. As I did a little
research, I found out that several Woodrow students were members
of this very same troop. Many earning their Eagle Scout Rank
during the 70's while we were at Woodrow. This was a complete
shock to me because Boy Scouts was not the kind of thing that
was mentioned back in the day. But I enjoyed this experience
particularly because it was something that my son and me could
do together. I still continue to work with the scouts even
though my son has since "retired" from the program.
The boys we have in the troop are from the Lakewood neighborhood,
and I have found out that many of their parents are Woodrow
grads.
I have served on numerous committees for Lakewood Elem., J.L.
Long and Woodrow Wilson over the years while Michael attended
those schools. I still serve on a few WW committees, which
lets me stay plugged in to whats going on at 100 S. Glasgow.
By the way, there are still a few of the teachers from our
day still there, going stronger than ever. It seems everywhere
I go there is a Woodrow connection somewhere, someway. It's
incredible.
